IF there was one that could be "hidden in the light of the sun", that would mean it would be too far to hear anything. Even seeing should be difficult.
"they're made for info gathering" indeed, but there are "rules and scope", in the first "hide and seeck" game, only Ro saw (and only saw btw, not heard) what Koon did because "he had his lighthouse nearby".
More convenient would have been an "Observer" that can become invisible!
In the rest of the chapter, she looks more "crazy" to me, than "aware of Koon's plans".
