“ | As a reward for passing his test, the 100th Floor Administrator gifts "Eternal Life" to Zahard and the 10 Great Family Heads. However, among them, only one was exempt, and he is Hendo Lok Bloodmadder, the Family Head of the Hendo Lok Family. (The exact reason is unknown) | ” |
The Immortality Contract refers to the Contracts between 100th Floor Administrator and the original 13 Irregulars (King Zahard and Great Warriors).
Description[]
As revealed when the Unknown Floor Administrator removed Lo Po Bia Traumerei’s contract, some terms of the Immortality Contract was revealed. As implied when the Unknown Administrator stripped Traumerei of his contract, the Immortality Contracts is also what grants the Great Family Heads their authority and control over their individual Family amongst 10 Great Families, which implies that their positions and by extenstion, their families, acts as a form of official governance over The Tower and they were given official permission by the Administrators to rule it. As shown from how the Unknown Administrator was able to transfer control and authority of the Lo Po Family from Traumerei to Gustang after the latter had lost in their official chest match. [2]
The Immortality Contracts is what gives the Family Heads complete immortality and protection by the Administrators, which presumably prevents natives of The Tower from harming and killing them. As it has been repeatedly stated that despite the immense power of FUG and its Slayers, they could do nothing to actually kill any of the Family Heads as long as they possessed it. As stated in Arlen Grace’s story, the Immortality and protection provided by the Contracts are so Absolute, that even the Family Heads themselves are unable kill thmeselves or commit suicide of any kind.
Zahard[]
The King of the Tower, the first man ever to make a contract with the Administrators of the Tower, and the man who built his own kingdom within the Tower.[3]
Zahard made a contract to become the King of the Tower.[4] Zahard, Arlene and other great warriors signed contract granting them immortality[5]. As a consequence of this contract, only someone free from the contract (irregular) can kill them.[6]
Hendo Lok Bloodmadder[]
Bloodmadder pleaded to the Administrator to teach him how he can live eternally, and the Administrator gave him one condition.
“ | If you curse all of your children and their children with short lives, You alone will be able to live eternally by receiving their lives." | ” |
Bloodmadder was agonized, but he could not defeat his fear of death.
Eventually, Bloodmadder pleaded the Administrator to grant him eternal life, and afterwards all those who carried Bloodmadder's blood came to have short lives. (Of course, in the Tower a short life is about 100 years. In a Ranker's case, it is a bit longer. However, Hendo's children can never live forever.)
Afterwards, Bloodmadder had to have many children in order to extend his lifespan, and so Bloodmadder is the one with the most children out of the 10 Great Families. Because the Administrator promised him that his life will be extended by the length of the sacrificed lives of his children, although no one knows the exact details of the contract, it seems definite that he needs to maintain as many children as long as his lifespan is.[1]
Lo Po Bia Traumerei[]
After being defeated by Po Bidau Gustang, Traumerei became the first family head to loss his Immortality Contract. As shown, after loosing his contract, Traumerei not only lost his immortality and protection of the Administrators which granted him protection from all forms of death, he had also lost his position of authority as the Lo Po Bia Family Head, with that authority transfering to Gustang. As a consequence of losing this contract, all the strong feelings and emotions that Traumerei had been suppressing that he had accumulated in his long life had surged back to him after the contract was removed. As demonstrated by Traumerei, once the Immortality Contract is removed, it becomes possible for a former family head to kill themselves. [7]
Arlen Grace[]
As noted in the case of Arlen, the Immortality contract cannot be removed by the Great Warriors themselves after accepting it. As shown where after her child had been killed, Arlen was unable to kill herself as her immortality given by the contract prevented her from doing so.[8]
V[]
Like with Bloodmadder, V also did not become immortal through the Immortality Contract. However, unlike with Bloodmadder, V was said to have turned it down, implying that he was likely offered the contract, but chose not to accept it.[8]
Quotes[]
- (Rachel to Ja Wangnan) "If you get the complete Thorn, you might find out how to beat Zahard and his immortality."[9]
- (Evan Edrok to Ha Yuri Zahard about Karaka being immortal) "That can't be. Only Zahard and the 10 Great Family Leaders who made a deal for immortality with the Administrator."[10]
- (Twenty-Fifth Baam to Garam Zahard about Zahard) "He entered the Tower as an Irregular, climbed the Tower with Ten Great Family Leaders and made a deal with the Administrator to become King of the Tower. An immortal body. A commander of powerful Shinsu. An enemy of FUG."[4]
