Reverse-Flow Control is controlling Shinsu by forcefully changing, altering or reversing the stream flow. |
“ | "There is only one thing needed to defeat an enemy using reverse-flow control; which you just have to be overwhelmingly more powerful than your opponent." | ” |
—Lightpen, Vice-President of the Research Association[6] |
Reverse-Flow Control (역흐름제어, Yeokheureumjae'eo)[6] is a Shinsu Manipulation skill that "forcefully stop the Flow of Shinsu" inside a person's body by reversing the flow.[1][7]
About[]
This skill can "temporarily" immobilize person, object or "freezing" the Shinsu into suspended animation state. It can be used at close range or even long range. However, Reverse-Flow Control can be resisted and overcome if the target has very high Shinsu Resistance or powerful Shinsu control that exceeds the power of the user.
Reverse-Flow Control is slower than normal "Flow Control", and thus generally means the user can only control a smaller amount of Shinsu in comparison to flow control, but allows the user to completely dictate the "flow of Shinsu", allowing them efficiency for the amount of Shinsu used. Reverse-flow control is mostly used to "destroy" or to "stop" the enemy.[6]
Reverse-flow control requires more caution when compared to flow control. In fact, to use reverse-flow control, you need to be able to read the flow of Shinsu more accurately than you need to for flow control. You instead break, block and shatter the flow and make it your own. Changing the flow of Shinsu in the wrong ways can be unintentionally destructive, requiring caution. Even though this may sound very destructive, flow control is actually better for destroying things.[6]
Applications[]
Stopping Objects[]

Baam freeze the remote
The Shinsu control that Baam used to stop the connector during his fight with Mule Love,[8] is actually a bit different from the "reverse-flow control". Reverse-flow control is, as explained by Quant Blitz, forcefully reversing the flow of Shinsu inside the opponent's body and stopping it. "To stop an object’s movement"; you need to control Shinsu around the object itself, but as it gets farther from your territory or area, it becomes more difficult.[9]

Baam freeze the remote
Of course stopping objects or organisms around oneself can be a "derivative technique" of reverse-flow control, so it is difficult to set a specific limit.[10] But, it is just easier to just "generalize" the reverse-flow control that Baam uses as "a technique that stops the opponent".
Implementation on common items[]
- Lighthouse: is one of many item that can use Reverse-Flow Control. This is known as the Lighthouse Flow Control.
Weaknesses[]
- Shinsu Bomb: This weapon "cannot be affected" by reverse-flow control technique.[11][7]It is created with high purity Suspendium material. This actually applies to any objects that contains high purity Suspendium. This type of material simply cannot be affected by reverse-flow control. Reverse-flow control is only limited to "Shinsu controlled by humans". Stopping Shinsu Bomb requires a different method of control.[12]
- Overwhelmingly Powerful Opponent: Reverse-flow control will not work against overwhelmingly powerful opponent because they have a high level of Shinsu Resistance. If the opponent is stronger or have more experience in shinsu control, they cannot be stopped with reverse-flow control. This information is quoted from the statement of a character named "Lightpen", he is the vice president of Research Association.[6]

Notes and Trivia[]
- Reverse-flow control is only limited to "Shinsu controlled by humans".[12]
- With enough skill and power, a person can freeze not only other people's movement, but also inanimate objects and even the Shinsu itself.[8]
- This is apparently a very rare technique, especially on the lower Floors of the Tower, and may be a difficult one to learn as Ranker Quant noted that it took him "decades" to learn this skill.[1]
- Shadow element cannot be affected by Reverse-Flow Control. Shadow is a creature without a uniform flow of Shinsu.[14]
- A person who has high Shinsu Resistance cannot be affected by Reverse-Flow Control. Special items can boost or enhance the power of Shinsu resistance.
- Shinsu Bombs cannot be stopped by Reverse-Flow Control.[11][7]
