Po Bidau Matte Ha

Po Bidau Matte Ha (포 비더 마테 하, Po Bideo Mate Ha) is a Ranker from the Po Bidau Family who works as the high security prison guard inside the Ark of Knowledge. He also has the blood of the Ha Family.

Appearances and Personality[]

Matte is a very tall and muscular man with big body build. Even the height of Po Bidau Bellerir only reaches up to his waist. Matte has black afro hair and slanted red eyes. He wears orange shirt, dark grey pants and dark brown gloves. He also wields a long giant green staff. Later, during his fight against Lo Po Bia Zamzam, his clothes were reduced to torn rags barely covering his body. Upon escaping the Lo Po Bia Mothership, Matte was next seen wearing a white sleeveless shirt and dark brown jeans as he and Tiara greeted Baam’s group. Later during Kirin’s assault on the Po Bidau Outpost where Baam’s group was resting, Matte wore a gray, sleeveless wifebeater shirt, dark brown jeans and blue shoes with orange soles,

Matte was shown to be a more reserved member of the Po Bidau Family, having been shown to loyally and obediently follow the orders of his superiors, even when their orders go against his personal opinions and feelings. This is shown where he follows Po Bidau Bellerir’s orders and allows him and Rachel authorization and access into his prisons despite his personal distaste for them. Like Po Bidau Tiara, Matte disapproves of Rachel and her group’s presence in their family’s battleship and considers them outsiders. Like many members of his family, Matte is loyal and worships his family head, Gustang and always makes sure to kneel in his presence. As shown, Matte holds the spear gifted to him by Gustang as his most prized possession.

Vol.3 Ch.173 - Drinks Matte! — Matte enduring Tiara’s abuse

Upon being grouped with Tiara on a mission to infiltrate the Lo Po Bia Family Mothership, Matte was shown to mostly follow her lead. As shown, Matte seems much closer to Tiara in comparison to other members of their family, referring to her as “Princes” as a personal nickname. As stated by Tiara, the two of them are working together to uncover and learn more about the third faction meddling with their family and their war against the Lo Po Bia Family, showing a strong level of trust with her as they are both technically going against their Family Head’s direct orders, as they feel that this faction is dangerous to both Gustang and their family. As shown, Matte acts as something like a personal assistant to Tiara, as shown where she makes a point of ordering Matte around and he endures a certain level of abuse from her, as shown where she throws wine bottles in his face when she’s drunk and assigns him with tedious tasks she cannot be bothered to do herself, such as having him search for her Quill Pen after losing it while drinking with Yuri.

While in battle, Matte showcased a level of cool headedness, cunning and a analytical mind when in difficult situations. As shown where he calmly works to fulfill his given orders and goals even while in the heat of battle. As shown where he prioritized getting Khun, Rak and Tiara into the Viridis Parus Hotel when being chased around by Zamzam. When fighting Zamzam, Matte showed his cunning by tricking him into thinking that his spear is purely ornamental and ceremonial and he couldn’t use it in battle, only to then reveal it as his ace in the most critical stage of the fight by revealing it was in truth an Ignition Weapon and activating it to finish Zamzam off.

When Bellerir and Rachel visited the prison where Khun was held captive, they encountered a prison guard named Po Bidau Matte Ha. The prison guard warned Bellerir that he cannot keep doing shady things with the prisoners secretly and risk his high status in the family. Bellerir shrugged it off and commented that this will be the last time.^[1]

Later, Matte would be assigned the mission of infiltrating the Lo Po Bia Family Mothership together with Po Bidau Tiara, Khun Aguero Agnis and Rak Wraithraiser to rescue the Irregular, Twenty-Fifth Baam from the Lo Po Bia Family.

Powers and Abilities[]

Given his position as a prison guard for the Po Bidau Family’s Mothership, Matte’s overall power is likely within the level of a Ranker to High Ranker. Due to being descended from both the Po Bidau Family and Ha Family, Matte has traits from both families and making him extremely formidable in battle.

As shown from his usage of a spear in battle, it's possible that one of Matte’s positions is that of a Spear Bearer.^[2]

Physical Abilities[]

Furthermore, due to inheriting some blood from the Ha Family and his own body build, Matte also likely possesses the Ha family’s trait of having superhuman physical abilities, further boosted using Body Reinforcement. As shown during his fight against Lo Po Bia Zamzam, where Matte was able to defend himself by hardening his shoulder muscles and throw him off him when he bit into his shoulder, with the latter noting that he possessed immense physical durability.

Doping: Combined with his physical Shinsu boost of his body, Matte could also add an element into the boost. As shown, this causes his body to transform into that element. Matte’s element is concrete, and upon using this technique his body begins transforming into concrete, drastically increasing his physical strength, durability and defense. As shown, Matte can either partially transform a part of his body, such as his arm, or his entire body. Matte himself could even extend this transformation others who are physically in contact with him, as shown where Sharknose, who he was riding on, was also transformed alongside him to fortify his defenses as well. However, as noted by Zamzam, this technique also causes a backlash of causing him extreme pain. ^[3]

Weapons[]

Spear of Sphere: Matte has shown to constantly hold on to a long, thick green spear with both hands, of which he holds in a ceremonial like position right in front of him. As shown from his battle against Lo Po Bia Zamzam, Matte lied and stated that the spear is ceremonial and he is unable to use it to fight. Only for him to then reveal that he had lied and he is indeed able to use it for battle. Matte would then reveal that he obtained this spear from Po Bidau Gustang and it was in truth a powerful Ignition Weapon. That once activated and ignited, Matte can fire a powerful blast of concentrated power at his target, as shown where a single blast was strong enough to critically injure an advanced Ranker. ^[4]

Notes and Trivia[]

He is from both the Po Bidau and Ha families; however, his main family is the Po Bidau family, as this is the name that is used first. This is similar to how Zahard's Princesses use their original family name first and then add Zahard at the end.
