He is a crossover character from SIU's previous manhwa/comic before Tower of God was created. The series was currently suspended and will continue after TOG ends.

Phantaminum (펜타미넘, Pentamineom) is a mysterious and highly dangerous Irregular, currently ranked 1st in the Tower. He is infamous for contributing to the creation of the stereotype against Irregulars. He is presumably the most powerful entity in the Tower and is actually an Axis (Reality Editor).^[4] Known as the "Riddle", he is the most enigmatic entity in the Tower: no clear motives, no clear relationships.

History[]

One day, Phantaminum suddenly appeared in the Tower and breached Zahard's inner palace, massacring many royals and courtiers, all of whom were high-level Rankers. He successfully broke through all lines of defense and ultimately confronted Zahard, but vanished without a fight.^[5] During the invasion, Phantaminum reportedly encountered Ha Yuri Zahard in the inner palace. Opinions vary widely on why he chose not to kill her. Yuri Zahard herself has said little about the encounter, only remarking, "He was a dirty one" (더러운 놈, "scumbag").^[5]

Origin of the Sobriquet[]

Phantaminum's mysterious appearance and disappearance from The Tower left many unanswered questions, earning him the sobriquet, "Riddle".^[5] Another contributing factor was his combat style, described as a freewheeling and desultory combat style. He wielded a weapon that had not been seen anywhere inside the Tower. Most eyewitnesses either died or lost their minds with fear, so the stories were not accurately reported.^[5] Simply put, Phantaminum is a monster shrouded in mystery, with information about him beginning and ending as a riddle.

Negative views toward Irregulars grew significantly because of him, and these views had a substantial impact on Urek Mazino when he climbed the Tower.^[5]

There was considerable opposition within the Ranking Administration Office to giving Phantaminum the 1st ranking, as he had disappeared after the attack on Zahard's palace and become inactive. However, everyone agreed his impressive strength alone was overwhelming.^[5] As a result, Phantaminum was named the No. 1 Ranker after demonstrating his power in a single battle, pushing the "Red Tower," Enryu down to 2nd place.^[5]

Phantaminum has been seen very rarely in the Tower since the palace attack, and most stories about him are based on rumors, making it difficult to confirm their accuracy. One such rumor suggests that he has a contentious, "cat-and-dog" type relationship with Urek Mazino, though this remains unverified.^[5] There are also rumors that he may be the only one capable of ascending to the 135th Floor.^{[citation needed]}

Every Ranker remains vigilant, watching for any movement from this enigmatic monster.

Powers and Abilities[]

Despite being recorded in only a single battle, Phantaminum was quickly regarded as the most powerful entity in the entire Tower. He achieved this reputation by slaughtering nearly all of Zahard's palace personnel, all of whom were High Rankers. It is said that Phantaminum had a freewheeling and desultory combat style and had used a weapon that had not been seen anywhere inside the Tower. Most of the eye-witnesses either died or were deranged with fear, so the stories were not accurately reported.^[5]

Axis[]

Phantaminum was originally a normal human being but was "awakened", using an unknown process, into an Axis.^{[citation needed]} Being an Axis, Phantaminum possesses a power that, when compared to a normal individual, is close to that of a god. Typically, only an Axis of a higher level can counter the will and actions of another Axis, rendering non-Axis individuals powerless against them. In essence, Phantaminum can only be defeated by a more powerful Axis. He is considered one of the most powerful Axes in the universe.

As an Axis, Phantaminum acts as the "author" or god of a particular "story" in the universe. In exchange for the responsibility of managing this story, he is granted immense authority over its events. He can "write" records that are immutable and irreversible.

Each Axis has the ability to generate a unique space around them, within which they can exercise a power that cannot be denied or negated. Within this domain, Phantaminum is capable of controlling certain aspects of reality. However, the specifics of his power remain unknown. In general, Axes can manipulate the reality of a finite space around them.

Note about Axis: SIU has admitted it's a crossover from a different manga/manhwa/webcomic. So most of this stuff is mainly how it works "outside of Tower". Not much is and some aspects may change in the future.^{[citation needed]}

Notes and Trivia[]

Based on previous Talse Uzer Story works, Phantaminum, as an Axis, is an entity that was "awakened." He was originally a normal human being.^{[citation needed]}
Currently, no one within the Tower is aware of Phantaminum’s status as an Axis.
Rankers often debate who would stand victorious if Phantaminum ever clashed with Enryu. Since Phantaminum is an Axis while Enryu isn't, the outcome is obvious that Phantaminium would win, but people in the Tower do not know that fact.
It is rumored that Urek Mazino entered the Tower to track down Phantaminum.^[4]
The author once stated that "Phantaminum could instantly destroy the Tower of God story if he wanted to". In all seriousness, this was not a joke.^{[citation needed]}
SIU has declared Phantaminum to be one of the five most powerful Axes in the universe.
It is discussed that Shinsu itself may be the Axis field of the true God the Tower was built to reach.^{[citation needed]} In this case, manipulating Shinsu may be able to harm Phantaminium as it has the properties of an Axis field.
SIU does not know whether Phantaminum will ever appear in the Tower of God story. As mentioned above, SIU wrote that Phantaminum is a top level character of the whole TUS universe. From a world-building perspective, Phantaminum predates the Tower of God story.^[5]
