Avto declaring that the answer was wrong
They are an organization mostly interested in things that have existed since before the Ten Great Family Leaders entered the Tower, like the legendary Machine Civilization, the towns of ancient people who worshiped Flowers and Plants or the nests of ancient creatures, or traces of the supernatural Machine God or God of Nature[1].
Khun notes, however, that most of this information is unreliable. Because of this, the Navigatores argue so much about it that they have divided themselves into factions.

They use a special warp device to reach their destinations called Navigators' Crossroads. However, to activate this device, travelers are asked a question and need to answer correctly to see wether they really belong there. If the answer to the question is wrong, they assume that the traveler is not worthy of entering the destination and are send somewhere else and Goruro said that these places are extremely dangerous[1].
While trying to reach The Sprout, Baam's group was greeted by the voice of someone called Avto. It is unknown whether it is a person or just a machine and whether all Crossroads are operated by Avto.

The Sprout is an old place of pilgrimage for Navigators[2]. They call this place: "The Sprout that grows no more[1]."
